Farah Latif
Research Officer
Dr Farah Latif is a WCAT Clinical Lecturer & StR in Nephrology and GIM based in Cardiff, with special interest in antiviral immunity and graft outcome following kidney transplantation. Farah has been an active co-investigator on multiple clinical trials since 2015, having developed an early understanding of the importance of research, and the value it adds to healthcare.
After obtaining a Kidney Research UK Fellowship, Farah has been instrumental in setting up and developing the Cytomegalovirus Immune Responses (CMVIR) clinical study to investigate the important and incompletely understood problem of human cytomegalovirus infection in kidney transplant recipients, completing a PhD at the world renowned Viral Immunology Group at Cardiff University.
Farah is a firm believer in the power of Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) to drive better health outcomes and translational research. She has helped in launching and delivering multiple NHSBT funded projects focused on Organ Donation and Transplantation awareness with BIMA, KRUK and Kidney Wales. As well as her role as Research Lead on the Executive Committee of BTPT, Farah is also the BIMA Vice Director for Blood and Organ Donation.
