Kaitlin Mayne
Kaitlin is a Higher Specialty Trainee in Renal & General Internal Medicine in the West of Scotland Deanery though currently “out of programme” working as a Clinical Research Fellow within the Clinical Trial Service Unit and Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSU), Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford. Her interests are in clinical trials in kidney and cardiovascular disease. Through this, Kaitlin became involved with the British Transplantation Society’s (BTS) Dragons Den competition which inspired an appetite to boost collaboration between physician trainees interested in solid organ transplantation across specialties and facilitate research opportunities hence the establishment of BTPT.

Waqas Akhatr
Waqas is the only UK specialist registrar in cardiology & intensive care with a particular interest in cardiogenic shock, heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. He is currently a national trainee representative on the board of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, trainee representative at NHS Blood & Transplant London, vice president of British Transplant Physician Trainees and on critical care section council at Royal Society of Medicine

Ailish Nimmo
Ailish is a renal and GIM trainee and clinical lecturer in South East Scotland. She is interested in promoting access to kidney transplantation, and spent 3 years out of programme in Bristol doing data science research examining the utility of cardiac screening prior to transplant. She hopes that BTPT will help promote transplantation as a career to early postgraduate medical trainees.

Hannah Gillespie
Hannah is an Academic Clinical Fellow in Renal Medicine at Newcastle University. She graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2018. After completing the Academic Foundation Programme in Northern Ireland, she continued her research training as a PhD student in Medical Education at Maastricht University, NL, exploring how medical students learn during hospital placements. She has since returned to clinical training and commenced as an academic trainee in the North East. Her research interests lie within Clinical Education Research and Renal Transplantation.

Yooyun Chung
Yooyun is a South London Gastroenterology/ Hepatology trainee currently undertaking a PhD at King’s College Hospital. Her area of interest includes quality of life in liver disease and after liver transplantation as well as the management of pregnancy in liver disease.

Farah Latif
Dr Farah Latif is is a WCAT Clinical Lecturer & StR in Nephrology and GIM based in Cardiff, with a special interest in antiviral immunity and graft outcome following Kidney transplantation. Farah has been an active co-investiagtor in multiple clinical trials since 2015, having developed an early understanding of the value it adds to healthcare. After obtaining a Kidney Research UK Fellowship, Farah has been instrumental in setting up and developing the Cytomegalovirus Immune Responses (CMVIR) clinical study to investigate the important and incompletely understood problem of human CMV infection in Kidney transplant recipients, completing a PhD in the world renowned Viral Immunology Group at Cardiff University.

Matt is an Army General Duties Medical Officer looking to expand BTPT and its work through expanding the website and integrating it with social media and the mailing list. He has experience providing healthcare in a variety of settings both in the UK and abroad.

Sarah is a renal registrar with an interest in transplant and obstetric nephrology, trained in New Zealand and the UK, currently undertaking a PhD looking at autoimmunity post kidney transplantation

Hatty Douthwaite
Hatty is currently an ST6 in Renal and General medicine at KCH. This role followed a year as Chief Registrar and orior to that a PhD in Transplant immunology at GSTT. She also holds trainee representative roles in South London & on RCP trainees committee & for NHSBT LAG. in a previous life she was very enthusiastic about preserving biodiversity under the sea, working and scuba-diving as a divemaster in the Philippines, Thailand and Madagascar... now she enjoys cycling around London.

Sara Escalona Rodriguez
Sara is an ICU senior clinical fellow with over 9 years of experience, specializing in cardiothoracic and transplant care. Her journey includes diverse ICU exposure and active involvement in a high-volume transplant program. She is currently working at Harefield Hospital and sought this opportunity to enhance her skills in heart and lung transplant and cardiac care, driven by a deep passion for advancing this field.

Oliver Tavabie
Oliver Tavabie interests span across liver failure syndromes, liver transplantation and healthcare inequities. He was previously the BASL Trainee Representative where he established the inaugural Trainee Committee, Virtual School of Hepatology Series and the research collaborative ToRcH-UK. As a BTPT member, he aims to support an environment of cross-specialty collaboration to improve care and outcomes for our patients.

Amar is currently an academic internal medicine physician practicing in Northwest London. He returned to London after receiving the Kennedy Scholarship to pursue a master’s in health management at Harvard University. With a keen interest in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation, he aspires to specialise in this field in the future.

Amarpreet Kaur Thind
Amarpreet is a Renal Registrar based in London, and am currently completing a clinical PhD looking at transplantation in older people alongside her clinical training. She is passionate that physicians trainees should have a voice in the landscape of UK transplant practice, especially as we are often the ones doing lots of the front door work! She is excited that BTPT can create a network of support, guidance, educational resource, and professional progression for interested trainees and sure we can all have some fun along the way.

Roopam is a respiratory trainee in the Northwest London Deanery, with a keen interest in Interventional Pulmonology and Lung Transplant.
